About Beach Blitz

Founded in 2016, Beach Blitz is Southern California's premiere FIRST® Robotics Competition offseason event. At Beach Blitz, the team experience always comes first. That means:

  • More matches per team
  • Educational opportunities

Event Schedule

The schedule is subject to change. All times are estimates and will be updated closer to the event.

4:00 pm

Volunteers: please indicate that you are interested in field setup on your volunteer registration. This is optional for most roles, but required for FTA, FTAA, and Field Supervisor roles.

Note: this is team load in only. There will be no working on the robot during this time. There will be no Friday practice matches or field connection time this year.

All volunteers must arrive by 7:45am unless otherwise told. Those who recieve a wristband and shirt on Friday may bypass the check in line.

Practice matches are filler line only and all teams will be required to connect to the field at least once before qualification matches, even if they don't play a full practice match.

Covid-19 Protocols

Beach Blitz is committed to respecting the latest science and adhering to the latest restrictions and guidance from our venue, Orange County, and the State of California. Our current protocols are below and subject to change prior to the event.

Masks

Masks are required in all indoor spaces and when in groups or lines outdoors at Beach Blitz, regardless of vaccination status. This applies to all people over the age of two in attendance at the event.

Vaccinations & Testing

All people attending Beach Blitz must provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or negative test (within 5 days for PCR/24 hours for antigen). Beach Blitz highly encourages everyone to get vaccinated, if able. Visit myturn.ca.gov to book an appointment today!

Spectators

Teams are limited to 20 total members, including students, mentors, and parents. No non-team spectators may attend Beach Blitz 2021, though the event will be live streamed so fans (and additional members) can watch from home.

Best practices for the unvaccinated

Stick with your own team as much as practical, physically distance from others when possible, stay home if you were exposed to a positive case of Covid-19. If you are able, get vaccinated today.

Best practices for everyone

Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, stay home if you’re feeling unwell, and comply with all event rules and instructions.

Travel

There is currently no travel advisory for California. However, CDPH is encouraging those who are unvaccinated to delay travel until they are fully vaccinated and, if they do not delay travel, getting tested before and after. Beach Blitz encourages teams and individuals to make responsible travel decisions and consult with their local health authorities.
